LANE SELECTION

3-lane highway (in each direction)

To drive straight use the 2nd (middle) lane.

Use the middle lane, first, because on turns the leftmost and rightmost lanes may be designated for turning only, second, because driving in the leftmost or rightmost lanes is generally less safe and requires more attention, and third, because there is chance of buses and other vehicles stopping in the left lane.

“Keep Left Unless Overtaking” sign practically means: use the 1st lane unless it is congested with traffic, then use the 2nd lane, etc, but leave the rightmost lane of your half of the road free for overtaking.

Take 2nd lane if you see ahead vehicles queued waiting to enter the highway.
